Coffee Time has some history here in Portland. We have been in the Northwest part of the city for over 22 years. When we opened in 1994, we were designed to be a local hang out where people could kick back and spend as much time as they wanted. Local artists were hired to paint murals to cover the walls of all the rooms to give the shop a comfortable, creative look.
Back in the day, the far back room was created to be a smoking room. There were several choices of cigars for customers to buy. Of course the smoking laws changed all that. The room remains a little darker than the rest of the building and is a little more secluded.
While we don’t still have all of the original murals, we do still have a passion for art. Every month for the past 6 years, local artist, Sean Kalley, has highlighted a new artist by displaying multiple piece of art in our main lobby. A neat fact: the artists are all Coffee Time customers! Plan to come out and support the local artists of our community and perhaps take a piece of art home!
